905-920 Introductory comments – Lisa Humbert, Credit Suisse Managing Director IT Division
920-1030 Roundtable discussion: Addressing Entitlement Management in the Financial Industry
Many factors are converging to force financial industry firms to re-evaluate their entitlement management approaches. Stricter business and regulatory rules, the desire for consistent policy enforcement across applications, continued evolution of application architectures, and emergence of policy and authorization standards are factors for enterprises to consider. In many cases, home grown solutions have reached the limits of their original architecture, can’t be easily adapted to web services applications, and are too costly to maintain. In this roundtable discussion, financial industry architects will share their views on entitlement management and discuss approaches or alternatives under consideration.
1030-1050 Break
1050-1135 SOA Adoption Strategies – Anne Thomas Manes
Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is something you do - not something you buy. It requires fundamental changes in the way systems are funded, developed, and operated. Without proper planning and governance, SOA initiatives are doomed to fail. In this session, Research Director Anne Thomas Manes will lead a discussion on SOA adoption strategies that can mitigate these risks.
1135-1215 Managing IT Applications as Assets – Lyn Robison
Application rationalization enables an enterprise to analyze and strengthen their portfolio of IT applications. It is a methodology for applying asset management techniques to software applications. Application rationalization can provide the foundation for more effective IT planning and governance, and can also serve as the gateway to other IT initiatives, such as identity management, service-oriented architecture, business process modeling, and master data management.
